Forest Barns offers something very few places can: exclusive use of a private luxury hamlet sleeping up to 26 guests across five individual self-catering cottages.

Rather than squeezing everyone into one large house, your group can stay close together while still enjoying separate cottage space, individual kitchens, sitting rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, outdoor areas and private hot tubs.

Across the hamlet there are 13 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and five private hot tubs, with dedicated dining and gathering space so everyone in your group can come together properly for meals, celebrations and relaxed time together.

Sleeps 26 is ideal for multi-generational family gatherings, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, retreats, wedding accommodation, exclusive-use wedding weekends and private celebrations where you want everyone together without everyone being under one roof.

Set at the head of a beautiful valley on the Cotswold edge, near the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean, Forest Barns is a peaceful place where families and friends can reconnect, relax and enjoy time together.

Exclusive Use and Peace of Mind

Where Forest Barns is booked for an agreed private wedding, celebration, retreat or event, the relevant cottages, spaces and arrangements are reserved for that booking, giving your group the privacy agreed as part of your stay.

Peaceful holiday stays and private events are managed separately, so guests can enjoy the type of stay they have booked.

Exclusive use means your group has agreed use of the hamlet, cottages and dedicated gathering spaces, without ordinary cottage guests being placed in the middle of your private celebration.

The Sleeps 26 arrangement includes all five Forest Barns cottages, giving your group exclusive use of the private hamlet by agreement.

The Five Cottages Included

The Manor – sleeps 8
A secluded 17th-century luxury farmhouse with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, Aga kitchen, two sitting rooms, secure gardens, meadow views and private hot tub.

Orchard Barn – sleeps 6
A detached 17th-century luxury stone barn with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, private hot tub, enclosed garden, beautiful open-plan living space and a mobility-friendly ground-floor twin bedroom layout.

The Stables – sleeps 6
A cosy 5-star stone barn with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, private hot tub, secure garden, log burner and a useful ground-floor en-suite king bedroom.

Meadow Byre – sleeps 4
A fabulous former milking barn with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, private hot tub, level access from parking, mostly one-level layout and separate bath and shower.

Brambles – sleeps 2
A romantic cottage for two with private balcony hot tub, valley views, open-plan living space and a cosy log burner.

Dedicated Dining and Gathering Space

One of the greatest advantages of booking the whole Forest Barns hamlet is that everyone can gather together comfortably without trying to fit 26 people into one cottage.

Your booking includes a dedicated dining/function space reserved for your group. With its kitchen/bar area, dining space, cloakroom, television and pull-down screen for photos, slideshows or video, it provides the perfect place for shared meals, celebrations, speeches, quizzes, family presentations, memory slideshows or simply spending time together.

Afterwards, everyone can wander back to their own cottage and still enjoy the privacy of separate accommodation.

Weddings and Exclusive-Use Wedding Weekends

Forest Barns is also available for exclusive-use wedding weekends, giving couples the opportunity to celebrate with accommodation for up to 26 overnight guests across the hamlet.

With all five cottages included, your closest family and friends can stay on site, settle in the day before, enjoy the wedding day together, and wake up at Forest Barns the morning after.

For standard exclusive-use weddings, Forest Barns can accommodate up to 26 overnight guests plus up to 18 additional day guests by prior agreement, giving up to 44 people in total on the wedding day.

Larger celebrations may sometimes be considered by written arrangement, but Forest Barns is not a hotel-style evening reception venue. Guest numbers, timings, catering, bar arrangements and use of spaces must be agreed with Forest Barns in advance.

Should You Choose Sleeps 26 or Sleeps 16?

If you are planning a group stay at Forest Barns, the main choice is usually between our full Sleeps 26 exclusive-use option and our smaller Sleeps 16 Get-Togethers option.

Sleeps 26 gives your group the full Forest Barns hamlet, with all five cottages, 13 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms and five private hot tubs. This is best for larger family gatherings, bigger celebrations, retreats and exclusive-use wedding weekends.

Sleeps 16 gives your group a private three-cottage arrangement, usually The Manor, The Stables and Brambles. It works well when you want a special group stay with dedicated dining and gathering space, but do not need all five cottages across the full hamlet.

Children, Dogs and Practical Arrangements

Children are very welcome at Forest Barns, with a games room, outdoor play areas, gardens, chickens and woodland walks to enjoy.

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement in suitable cottages. Fees apply, and dogs must be agreed at the time of booking so that we can make sure the cottage combination is right for your group.

If your group includes babies, young children, older guests, dogs, mobility considerations or a special celebration, please contact us before booking. We can talk through the cottage layout and help you decide whether Sleeps 26 is the right fit.

Useful Before You Book

Sleeps 26 is best for groups who want a private five-cottage stay with dedicated gathering space. It is not the same as a hotel or public event venue, and any private celebration, retreat, wedding or catered event must be agreed with Forest Barns in advance.

AND THE DOG CAN COME TOO!

Why not bring your four-legged friend with you to enjoy the beautiful woodland walks together.  Please ask about our planned route maps which are direct from your door. 

To make life easier for you and our doggie guests' comfort, we provide the following for your stay:  your own private, fenced-in garden to keep your dog safe, a dog bed per dog, water bowl and green towel per dog.  There is a red dog poo bin and poo bags provided.  Sofa throws and holiday collar tags with our contact details.  There are warm water dog washing facilities available on site.  We also provide local veterinary contact information. 

We have a list of dog friendly pubs and restaurants of which there are many in the local area.  The Forest of Dean and Wye Valley is very doggie friendly.
